Trae Young's Wizards debut is set! Returning this Friday against Jazz, he previously expressed hope for a packed home arena.

On March 3, Beijing time, according to a report by noted journalist Shams, Washington Wizards point guard Trae Young is anticipated to make his first appearance for his new club in Friday's matchup with the Utah Jazz. Young has been out of action since December 28, 2025, with knee and quadriceps issues. His move to the Wizards was finalized near the trade deadline in February 2026.

Trae Young also posted a short video on his Instagram with the caption: March 5 (local time).

Previously at a press conference, Young mentioned his reasons for choosing the Wizards: "I feel Washington D.C., as a major market, has always been underrated."

Speaking about the Wizards' core roster at the time, Young said: "There are a lot of young guys on the team, and they are remarkably mature. These young men are incredibly quick learners, and you can see right away they are gym rats, constantly working on their game in the facility."

Regarding the Wizards, Young also stated: "The outside perception of this team is quite different from the reality. The franchise is on an upward trajectory, and I want to be a part of that. I'm genuinely excited to have a positive impact on my teammates and to lead these young players as a veteran."

Young expressed: "I know I'm not a perfect player yet. I just want to help these young guys perform at their best on the court, and I hope to assist a few of my teammates in developing into All-Stars."

Young also told reporters that while walking through the arena, he said to Dawkins (the Wizards' General Manager): "I want to see this place sold out."

In an official statement, Dawkins said: "We are thrilled to welcome Trae Young to the Washington Wizards. The opportunity to acquire a player of Trae's caliber, with his skill, accomplishments, and age, is rare. Trae's style of play is highly entertaining, and the confidence and competitive drive he displays set him apart in the league."

Now, Wizards fans will finally get to see their new acquisition take the court. So far this season, Young has played in 10 games, averaging 19.3 points and 8.9 assists per game, with a field goal percentage of 41.5% and a three-point percentage of 30.5%. The Wizards hold a record of 16 wins and 43 losses, ranking 13th in the Eastern Conference.
