Thai Football Association President Madam Pang presented an on-the-spot reward of 2 million baht to the Thai women's futsal team for clinching the 2026 Southeast Asian title.
On the evening of March 2, the Thai women's futsal team excellently defeated the Australian team with a tight 5-4 score to claim the championship at the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship.
After the match, Thai Football Association President Mrs. Nualphan Lamsam (Madam Pang), together with Vice President in charge of futsal and beach football development Adisak Benjasiriwan, awarded a 2 million baht bonus to the entire team for this historic achievement.
The bonus is seen as a well-deserved recognition for the Thai women's futsal team's first-ever regional championship victory. In the final, the host team faced Australia in a dramatic and emotionally charged match. The two sides engaged in an exciting score-chasing battle amidst the fervent cheers of the spectators. Ultimately, Thailand secured a narrow 5-4 victory to ascend to the top podium.
"The championship celebration took place in a vibrant atmosphere at Terminal 21 shopping mall (Nakhon Ratchasima), where the stands were packed with fans. Continuous applause and cheers provided great motivation to the players on this historic day for the Golden Temple nation's women's futsal," reported Siam Sport.
The 2026 title also marks a significant step forward for Thailand after the disappointment two years prior. In the 2024 tournament, they reached the final but lost to the Vietnamese team 1-2 in extra time and settled for the runner-up position. This strong comeback demonstrates the systematic investment and determination to elevate women's futsal by Thai football.
With their first-ever championship in the tournament's history, the Thai women's futsal team has not only solidified its standing in Southeast Asia but also gained further momentum towards aiming for higher goals on the continental stage in the future.
