Malaysian Boss Makes Shocking Prediction on Timing of CAS Verdict

CEO Rob Friend indicated that the Court of Arbitration for Sport might require several days up to three weeks to deliver its decision regarding the appeal from FAM and the seven Malaysian athletes.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Malaysian national team, Mr. Rob Friend, believes the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will need additional time to issue a ruling concerning the appeal filed by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) along with seven players of mixed heritage.

Speaking to the media after the hearing, Rob Friend acknowledged that CAS did not provide a specific timeline for announcing the result. According to him, the review process could extend from a few days to approximately three weeks, depending on the complexity of the case file and the evidence presented.

Mr. Rob Friend said the verdict for Malaysia could take up to 3 weeks

"This could take anywhere from a few days to three weeks," he was quoted as saying by Stadium Astro, while emphasizing that the body did not give a precise commitment on the decision's timing. "They did not give us a clear timeframe, but it certainly won't happen in an instant. For now, we can only sit back and wait."

Despite having to wait patiently, the head of the Malaysian national team's executive machinery remained optimistic about the chances for FAM and the seven players in this case. He is confident that the arguments and documents presented by the Malaysian side to CAS are sufficiently compelling for the arbitration panel to consider thoroughly.

CAS has concluded the hearing but has not yet issued a final verdict regarding the 7 naturalized Malaysian players

The CAS hearing has concluded, marking a crucial step in a legal process that has attracted significant attention from the country's football fans. The case directly concerns the eligibility of mixed-heritage players, who are seen as key figures expected to elevate the national team's strength in the coming period.

The final verdict is anticipated to be announced as early as the next few days. However, given that CAS has not set a specific deadline, all scenarios remain possible. For Malaysian football, this is not merely a legal matter but a potential turning point that could significantly impact squad development strategy and competitive ambitions at both regional and continental levels.
