The Vietnam eFootball National Team confirms its continued journey at the FIFAe World Cup 2026.
Following a positive impression in the previous season, the Vietnam eFootball National Team confirms its continued journey at the FIFAe World Cup 2026. This is seen as the next step in the long-term development strategy for Vietnamese football esports on the international stage.
At the FIFAe World Cup 2025, the Vietnam team participated but could not advance past the group stage. However, those valuable experiences became a crucial foundation for the entire team to prepare more thoroughly for this return, especially in the context of the 2026 tournament gathering over 110 participating nations.
A notable point is that this year's tournament continues to be held across multiple platforms, expanding opportunities for the global gaming community. The Vietnam National Team will compete in both categories: eFootball Console (for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC) and eFootball Mobile (on iOS, Android).
The format of the world finals has also undergone a significant change, shifting to 2v2 team competition. This requires athletes not only to possess strong individual skills but also to coordinate tactics seamlessly and assign roles appropriately in every situation.
The journey to find the national representatives begins with the online Challenger Series qualifiers in February. Performance in the Ranking Stage (Round 3) is the key basis for the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association (VIRESA) to evaluate and select the most outstanding candidates.
VIRESA, in coordination with KONAMI and FIFA, implements the entire selection process, oversees the qualifiers, and determines the official roster based on both expertise and competitive results. Ahead of the 2026 tournament, eFootball Vietnam made waves by reaching the quarter-finals of the AFC eAsian Cup 2023, advancing past the group stage and defeating Tajikistan in the Round of 16 before being stopped by Saudi Arabia, thereby affirming its position among Asia's strong teams.
